Veterans Rights Initiative
Lone Star Legal Aid is committed to honoring Texas veterans and service members by prioritizing their unique civil
legal needs through our region-wide initiative. This initiative engages Lone Star Legal Aid staff, community partners
and pro bono attorneys to honor veterans and service members by providing free legal advice, advocacy and
education regarding their rights and protections. The program focuses on helping veterans, service members and
their families understand state and federal resources and protections available to them.

Eligibility: Pro bono legal assistance to the homeless and poor citizens of Houston
Explanation of Benefits: Applicants may attend one of our scheduled legal clinics held at homeless facilities in the
Houston area. At these clinics our attorneys will assess legal needs, provide advice, and offer representation for
qualifying matters. Call the office for information about legal clinic locations and times, or to arrange an
appointment.

Eligibility: OEF/OIF Veterans and Families
Explanation of Benefits: Worklife Institute's OEF/OIF Reentry and Worklife Transition program offers services, free
of charge, to OEF/OIF Veterans and their families.
Services: Career Transition, Family and Personal Counseling, and Legal Consultation and Referral. The program
also provides various Seminars and Workshops such as Work Orientation and Parenting Seminars. The Institute
resource center offers hospitality, a library, meeting facilities, computers and other office equipment for its clients.
