ROSENBERG, Texas (FOX 26) -
Police in Rosenberg are trying to determine what led to the death of a four-month old girl at a motel.
Officers arrived after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to the Woodland Inn & Suites on Avenue H near Sidney Street in Rosenberg in response to a report of a non-responsive child. They found a female who told them she was babysitting the girl and discovered her unconscious and in need of medical attention.
The caregiver told Rosenberg police that she contacted 911.
Fort Bend County Emergency Medical Services arrived to the motel and took the child to OakBend Medical Center in Richmond where she was pronounced dead at 5:16 p.m.
An investigator with the Rosenberg Police Department arrested Kelley Gann, 32, in the girl's death. Gann, who police identified as the caregiver who was with the girl when officers arrived to the motel, was charged with injury to a child.
A district court judge has set a bond amount of $500,000 for Gann.
