George D. McIntosh, Jr., a level three predatory sex offender on fugitive status, turned himself in to authorities early Thursday morning.
The Minnesota Department of Corrections says McIntosh surrendered to the Le Sueur County jail around 4 a.m. Thursday.
McIntosh was released from prison on Aug. 30 after serving time for two third-degree criminal sexual conduct convictions of statutory rape. He was put on intensive supervised release in Le Sueur County and had been staying with his parents in Waterville.
His parents told FOX 9 News the prison system set him up for failure, explaining that their son has felt hopeless since his release and the constant monitoring was driving him crazy.
Officials say he had not violated the terms of his release until he cut off the monitor.
According to court documents, the charges against McIntosh stem from a party where he had been drinking with a 15-year-old girl and the two had sex; however, it is unclear why he was categorized as a level three offender, which means he is most-likely to reoffend.
