A Henry County high school student has been charged as an adult in the sexual assault of a fellow student.
Deputies say the incident happened at Union Grove High School in McDonough.
The 16-year-old victim's mother says she saw school surveillance video footage of her daughter fighting her attacker in a hallway before and after the assault.
"She was like ‘no, no,' pushing him. He's grabbing her violently," said the mother.
Although there are numerous cameras around the school, deputies say there is no camera inside the locker room where the assault took place.
"He grabs her by her feet. She's lifted and eventually she can't hold on anymore so she drops. And he then drags her into the locker room," said the mother.
The mom says her daughter, who is an honor student, screamed for help but no one heard her.
"She felt helpless and she just fought him….He grabbed both of her hands with one hand and use the other hand to grab all over her," the mother said.
This mom tells us she is alarmed by what she calls a lack of adult supervision during after school hours.
"No school officials…the school hallways were empty," she said.
The Henry County district attorney's office told FOX 5 that they will try 16-year-old Eric Jones as an adult for aggravated sexual battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment and enticing a minor for indecent purposes.
Jones will have his first court appearance on Tuesday.
The district released a statement saying the assault is isolated and it takes the safety of its students very seriously.
