Deputies arrested seven men in a prostitution sting, including Joseph Andolino, a senior vice-president at Halliburton.
"You never know who you are going to get," Harris County Sheriff's spokeswoman Christina Garza said.
Deputies were responding to complaints from people living in the FM 1960 and I-45 area, Garza said. They placed escort ads on a number of websites, including Craigslist. The callers thought they were talking to prostitutes. They were really talking to undercover deputies. They arranged to meet at a hotel in the area and that's where they were busted.
"We're not just targeting the prostitutes, the men and women who sell sex, but the people who are buying it too," Garza said.
This sting was part of a general crackdown on the sex trade and sexually-oriented businesses in the FM 1960 area. The County Commission has approved more stringent rules for sexually-oriented business, and the county attorney is suing the strip club Babes for being a "nuisance business".
Halliburton issued this statement on Andolino's arrest:
"We confirm Joseph Andolino is a Halliburton executive. We expect our officers and employees to maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct, but we do not comment on personal matters."
