A local veteran is wondering why he's being threatened by the people whose job it is to take care of him.
Doug Strand retired from the Air Force in 2011 after becoming disabled by non-combat injuries in Iraq. In July, he posted a YouTube video, venting frustration about a trip to the VA medical center.
The VA's response was to send him a certified letter ordering him to take the video down, arguing it defamed the medical center's emergency room staff.
Stroud said he couldn't believe it.
"What happened to freedom of speech?" he asked. "If all veterans got up and said something bad that happened to them in the emergency room, is the VA gonna' turn around and sue them all? I hope not."
The VA has threatened to refer Strand's case to its legal office.
They did not respond to a FOX 26 inquiry.
