A local couple is celebrating the birth of their very first child, but this baby is unique. By unique, we mean huge. We're talking 12 pounds.
"It started feeling really heavy," Linda Chau said. "Everywhere I went people were asking me, ‘Hey, are you having twins?"
Nope, not twins, just one ginormous baby!
"I told her before she was born that I was going to have a big ole hefty baby," Alfred Seymore Jr. said.
Daddy was right. Alfred and Chau are the proud parents of Alayah Linh Seymore, born Monday night via C-section at a whopping 12 pounds, 23 inches.
"Everything is still surreal to me," Chau said. "I couldn't believe it. When I saw her for the first time, I thought, oh her cheeks are so big and you know I was only 110, and I was so skinny. I can't believe this is my baby. She's so big."
"She was heavy, she was real heavy, real real heavy," Alfred said.
Why so heavy? Even the couple admitted Alayah was a little overcooked.
"She was overcooked because she was due Oct. 4," Alfred said. "She didn't come until the 8th."
The first-time parents are in love with their new baby girl.
"Honestly, it was, I feel like I had a clean slate you know, like my life started," Alfred said.
They're shocked such a big baby came out of such a small lady. Chau was only 5'2, 110 pounds before the pregnancy and Alfred isn't that much taller.
"It's like unbelievable, like when I look at her I think, oh my gosh, I can't believe I was packing that everywhere," Chau said.
I asked Chau if she wanted to have another baby. Her response:
"No, like never again!"
I asked Alfred the same question. His response:
"Oh no, this is enough for right now. It's way enough. It's two babies right here. I got 2 babies!"
Alayah is healthy and very beautiful with a full head of hair. She looks just like her mom.
