The NFL fined New York Jets guard Matt Slauson $10,000 for the hit he gave Texans linebacker Brian Cushing that put him out for the year.
Cushing was in injured in the first half during the Texans 23-17 win over the Jets on Monday night.
He suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will have season-ending surgery in two or three weeks once the swelling goes down according to Texans coach Gary Kubiak.
The Associated Press reports that Slauson will appeal the fine.
The Texans placed Cushing on injured reserve on Wednesday.
