Texans fans celebrating ... with caution

Posted: Updated:

Everybody is talking about the good and the bad from the Houston Texans' Monday night game against the Jets.  Many are celebrating with caution.

The Texans took home a record-making win for the fifth straight week.  That's plenty to party about, but there are concerns over Cushing's possible career ending injury.

"We know nothing definitive about Brian Cushing right now, but everything that we hear about him is not good," Greg Koch said while co-hosting on Sports Talk 790.

The guys on morning sports radio were getting an earful after the Texans' big victory, taking the team to 5:0.

"I played 12 years (in the NFL).  He played 11 (referring to Greg Koch).  I was on a team that went to the Super Bowl and we never started off 5 and 0, so that just goes to show it's very difficult," Sports Talk 790 co-host N.D. Kalu said.

Only two NFL teams, the Texans and the Falcons, remain undefeated this season.

"I do applaud the Texans for being 5 and 0," one caller said.  "But Gary Kubiak has rode the coattail of Wade Phillips …"

"If you say Kubiak is riding Phillips' coattails, my comment would be: so what?  It's working," Kalu said, interrupting the caller.

Many callers were upset the Texans only took down the Jets 23 to 17 and not by a bigger score.

"Let's give them some props for at least 24 hours, and then we can talk about the concerns and what we see coming up with the game against the Green Bay Packers," Koch shot back.

"The majority of the people are embracing this team and they are enjoying what's going on," Kalu added.

In fact, the Texans store was packed with fans stocking up on souvenirs.  While some spent Tuesday slipping into Texans attire, many couldn't help but re-live the highlights:

"Any of the J.J. Watt swat downs or sacs.  He's just wrecking shop out there."

"He's (Watt) acting up this season.  He's doing real good".

"The interception by Kareem Jackson at the end that solidified the win".

"Anything by J.J. Swat".

"The J.J. Swat at the end when they were like we've got a few seconds, we can do it and he was like no you don't.  No you don't."
