A Houston restaurant is celebrating thousands of new fans and working to turn a chance-opportunity into a boost for business.
Candace Brooks is the owner of Harlon's BBQ in the Galleria. The restaurant is in a quiet corner of the mall and struggles for business, but a trip to New York to be in the studio audience of Anderson Cooper's new talk-show "Anderson Live" ended with her talking with the host, then cooking for him, and getting invited-back as a guest.
Brooks took the opportunity to promote her business, asking Cooper to like her Facebook page.
"If I can get more people to like it, it's my job to get the rest done," she said. "All you have to do is try and like me, and let me talk to the rest of the people and get 'em in and show 'em we really have great food."
Since her appearance, Harlon's BBQ has collected more than 10,000 Facebook likes. Her next stop is to be a traveling correspondent for Cooper's show.
