Houston, Texas (Fox26) --- Family and friends will say goodbye on Tuesday, October 9th to longtime civic leader Bland McReynolds.
McReynolds, passed away on September 27, 2012, in New Braunfels, Texas, at the age of 85.
He was a fourth generation Houstonian who dedicated much of his life to civic affairs during Houston's boom town era. McReynolds served under three mayors and was Houston's longest serving and last Director of Civil Defense.
Houston Civil defense was a cold war era department that was responsible for coordinating multi-agency responses to natural disasters and other area emergencies.
McReynolds is survived by his wife of 15 years and three children, two of whom still live in Houston.
