Today is the last day to register to vote for Nov election

Houston, Texas (FOX26)--- If you are planning on voting in the 2012 Presidential Election the clock is ticking on your deadline to register to vote.

Today, October 9th, is the last day for Texas residents to register to vote in the November 6th, general election.

Registration forms are available at all post offices, city halls and libraries but if you mail in the form it must be post marked by October 9th.

A reminder, you must register to vote in the county to which you are a resident.

Other qualifications to register to vote are:

  • At least 17 years, 10 months of age (to vote, you must be 18)
  • U.S. citizen
  • Not been declared totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction
  • You are not a convicted felon, or have satisfied the court's requirements after a felony conviction or have received a pardon.
