Deputies have arrested a driver charged with intoxication manslaughter after a two-vehicle collision he was involved in ended the life of a woman and injured her relatives.
The car-truck crash took place around 10 p.m. Thursday on Clinton Drive near Crown Street in Galena Park.
Harris County deputies say the driver of a Dodge Charger was traveling westbound on Clinton Drive at a high rate of speed when the car crashed into the pickup truck with five people inside.
The car struck the truck and sent it into a creek. A woman who was in one of the passenger seats died. Her husband, who drove the truck, suffered minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.
The 20-year-old son of the couple, his girlfriend and a 1-year-old child, who were all sitting in the back seat of the truck, were taken to LBJ General Hospital in serious but stable condition.
The 21-year-old driver of the Charger was taken into custody.
Galena Park police initially investigated the accident but then allowed deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office to take over the investigation.
