Investigators say arson appears to be the cause of an apartment complex fire north of downtown Houston.
Firefighters arrived around 5:30 a.m. Friday to the complex on Fletcher Street near Carl Street in response to a report of someone trapped in the burning building. After entering the complex and searching the building for almost an hour, firefighters determined that no one was inside the property.
All the residents and visitors to the complex were able to escape from the fire and no injuries were reported.
7-year-old Tani Perez told FOX 26 News that the fire woke her up early on Friday morning and that she woke her mother up when she smelled the fire.
Investigators say a person who has been setting fires in garbage bins nearby the complex may also be responsible for the complex fire.
