Honey bees are dying in the Houston area; the problem is more serious than just a lack of the sweet stuff they produce.
Without the bees helping 'Mother Nature' in the pollination process, there are no fruits or vegetables.
Houston beekeeper Shelley Rice is helping guys understand the importance of bees, how they work and what you can do to save them.
Rice is one of several experts that will be on hand during a free film series hosted by Discovery Green in downtown Houston.
The free family movies begins Friday at 7 a.m. with "Fresh," a film that introduces Americans who are reinventing the national food system.
Discovery Green visitors can watch "American Meat" on Oct. 20, a movie that explores locally-sourced meat products, and "Queen of the Sun: What are the Bees Telling Us?" on Nov. 9.
(If you're still not interested in this story, FOX 26 Morning News anchor Natalie Bomke wears a beekeeping suit and is stationed outside a working hive.)
