
Houston police are trying to determine what led a driver to crash a Chevrolet Impala into a utility pole on Market Street in northeast Houston.
The body of the driver was taken to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to verify his identity.
Officers arrived after 9 a.m. Sunday to the accident scene on Market Street near the 610 East Loop.
The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and was weaving in and out of lanes when the Impala jumped a curb and struck the pole.
A male passenger who was in the sliver Impala was taken to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
