Dynamo will not be sold to Rockets owner Leslie Alexander

Posted: Updated:

FOX 26 Sports has learned the potential sale of the Houston Dynamo franchise to Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander will not happen.

Dynamo president Chris Canetti confirms in an interview with FOX 26 Sports that the Dynamo's current ownership group will continue to own the franchise.

Anschutz Entertainment Group owns 50 percent of the franchise.  Former boxing great Oscar de la Hoya and Los Angeles businessman Gabriel Brener each own 25 percent.

"There's not going to be a sale of the Dynamo," Canetti said. "Our owners received an offer.

"The offer was evaluated through a negotiation and it's ultimately been determined that the offer is not going to be accepted. At this point the Dynamo will remain under its current ownership group as it has been constructed."

Rockets officials have not been available for comment.

"Our ownership group remains commited to the Dynamo franchise and BBVA Compass Stadium and believes in the future of both," said Canetti.

It was announced earlier this week that Anschutz Entertainment Group and all of its assets are for sale.  The Dynamo continue to be one of those assets.
