Charges are on the way for man accused of shooting at a police officer in southwest Houston.
Savorge Lee Curl, 31, has a pending charge of aggravated assault on a peace officer. The shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. Thursday in the 2100 block of Hepburn Street.
Officer D.C. Moore was searching the area for a suspect wanted in another aggravated assault, Houston Police say.
Moore saw Curl walking westbound on Hepburn and realized he matched the description of that suspect. When he ordered Curl to stop and show his hands, Curl spun around, pulled out a pistol and shot at Moore, missing him and hitting his patrol car. Moore, in fear of his life, fired at Curl, striking him once. Curl was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office and HPD's internal affairs and homicide divisions are investigating the case.
