Two drivers were killed within a three-hour period in separate accidents on the northwest and southwest sides of Houston.
The first accident took place around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on Bellaire Boulevard near Cook Road.
The driver was traveling westbound on Bellaire Boulevard at a high rate of speed when witnesses say he lost control of the white Lexus SC 400 and veered off the road. The car crashed into a wooden utility pole, which split both the car and pole. Most of the driver's body was thrown from the car.
Police later identified the driver as Hui Nguyen.
An autopsy on the body of Nguyen, 23, will be conducted at the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to determine if the driver was impaired.
The second accident took place around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 610 North Loop West eastbound lanes near the Ella Boulevard exit.
The 19-year-old driver and a passenger were traveling in a silver Infiniti G35 when the car stalled out and was struck from behind by a black Dodge Charger.
The driver of the Infiniti G35 was pronounced dead at the accident scene and the female passenger was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center in serious but stable condition with injuries determined to not be life-threatening.
The female who drove the Charger was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center where she was administered a mandatory blood test. She has not been charged in the accident.
The body of the man who drove the Infiniti G35 was taken to Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to be identified.
