Houston, Texas---(FOX26) Houston area commuters got their first taste of rate increases, Monday morning, on Harris County toll roads.
Prices went up,over the weekend, for the first time in two years.
On the Sam Houston, Westpark and Hardy toll roads the fares have gone up $0.10 for EZ Tag users and $0.25for those paying cash.
On the Katy Tollway, a peak-hour trip... end to end... will go up a dollar.
Some of the county's nearly half million daily users aren't happy about the added cost.
"Oh, I'll use them," saysRodney LeCroy, "Everybody's gonna' use them. It don't matter, but I won't use'em as much."
The Harris County Toll road Authority says the fare increase will generate almost $20 million dollars and will be used for maintenance, expansion and operational costs.
