Judge keeps open gentleman's club, tough new rules

Posted: Updated:

Houston, Texas---(FOX26)  Treasures adult nightclub will remain open after a Harris County Judge ruled in the nuisance case against the club.

Judge Alexandra Smoots Hogan didn't close the club down but she piled on enough restrictions some workers will likely lose their jobs.

Officials from the HarrIs County Attorney's office say Treasures was a haven for prostitution and drugs.

They say investigators over 19 days arrested 41 people for breaking the law at the club.  Nine have been convicted.

Judge Hogan in a temporary injunction ordered the club:

  • Install more cameras
  • Hire more security officers
  • Background checks for workers
  • Those with a felony in the last 10 years will be fired
  • All employees must also undergo random drug screenings
  • Female dancers must now cover their behinds

Attorneys from Treasures maintained they were targeted by Houston's City Attorney's Office.

Attorneys for Treasures did not say if they plan to appeal the judges temporary injunction.

Judge Hogan will decide if the temporary measures like video taping everyone in the club will be permanent in December.
