The San Antonio Spurs were considering Gersson Rosas, the Houston Rockets vice president player personnel, to become their next assistant general manager before hiring Scott Layden.
League sources confirm the Spurs' interest in Rosas, who was a finalist for the San Antonio position, which was first reported by Yahoo Sports.
Layden has been an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz.
Rosas is heading into his ninth season with the Rockets.
Prior to being elevated to vice president player personnel three years ago, Rosas had been the Rockets' director of player personnel since 2008.
Before that he was the team's director of scouting for one year and he was the Rockets' personnel scout/video coordinator for three years.
Along with his duties with the Rockets, Rosas also serves as general manager of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Rockets' affiliate in the NBA Development League.
