Name released of man who died from fall at Texans game

We now know the name of the man who died in a fall Thursday night at Reliant Stadium: 25-year-old Jonathan Kelly.

Kelly was trying to ride the railing of an escalator, Houston Police say.  The fall took place during the Houston Texans preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings at Reliant Stadium.

Randall Wisdom says he and his daughter were on the escalator when the accident happened.

"All of a sudden, you hear this banging noise and some people hollering from the top," Wisdom told FOX 26 News on the telephone after the accident. "When we finished our decent from the escalator, he was laying on the bottom, not moving."

HPD homicide investigators say there may have been horseplay involved, with the man sitting on the railing. That's when the man apparently fell off the escalator, a distance the equivalent of almost five floors, to the concrete floor below.

Wisdom did not see the man go over the escalator railing, but said he saw someone, whom he thought was the man's son, run down the escalator stairs to get to his father. When he got to the bottom of the escalator, he says he immediately told Reliant Stadium personnel, but found them slow to respond.

"I had to tell like 2 or 3 people that the man had fell down and he wasn't moving," said Wisdom.
