HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

The family of a missing Texas A&M senior/cadet confirms he was found shot and killed in Marlin, Texas.

Anthony Joseph Carey, 22, disappeared after leaving his home in west Houston's Royal Oaks subdivision on Aug. 23.

Carey, a senior member of the Aggie Corps of Cadets, was supposed to be at his dormitory/apartment on the A&M College Station campus, but he never showed up.  Calls to his cell phone went straight to voicemail.

Monday, police found his car and cell phone in Marlin.  A body, later confirmed to be his, was found in a heavily wooded area nearby.

Police are investigating.

Carey's family has scheduled a memorial service on Friday at 10 a.m. at Chapelwood Methodist Church in the 11140 block of Greenbay Street.
