Police say they have arrested three suspected vehicle thieves after a brief chase in Spring Valley, Texas.
Officers from several departments arrested them after an "exhaustive search" early Tuesday morning, Spring Valley Police say.
Around 3:55 a.m., a Spring Valley officer saw a vehicle in the 1300 block of Perch Road, driving into a neighborhood without its lights on. He followed the vehicle and saw it stop next to a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Several people exited the vehicle and approached the Tahoe. The officer went in for a closer look and was spotted. Those people quickly jumped into their vehicle and sped away, refusing to stop.
After a short chase down Westview, the vehicle turned into a Spring Branch neighborhood just west of Campbell. Three people got out of the moving vehicle and ran off, jumping fences and into the back yards of homes.
All three were arrested and charged with burglary. Their names have not been released but they are all around 19 to 20 years of age and are from north Houston.
Investigators believe the three men stole the vehicle they were riding in from a Houston-area home in the 9300 block of Greensward Road.
Investigators also think they drove that vehicle into Spring Valley Village and burglarized three vehicles parked in the 8700 block of Cedardale Drive. The stolen property in those vehicles was recovered from the stolen vehicle the suspects were driving.
There's more information to suggest these three men are also responsible for a string of nighttime vehicle burglaries in Spring Valley Village on Aug. 3.
