Mourners attack man during funeral service

Posted: Updated:
HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

A murdered Houston man was laid to rest but not before a fight interrupted his funeral service on Thursday.

That afternoon, sources said Patrick Williams showed up at Paradise Funeral Home to pay respects to the relatives of Claude Kibbie.  The 33-year-old father was gunned down at Crofton Place Apartments a week before

Detectives say the case remains unsolved.  When Williams arrived, relatives accused him of killing Kibbe.

"We understand that his close friends were angry," Jasmine Davis, Kibbe's sister-in-law, said.  "Everybody wants answers but this is not the place for it."

Several mourners called police after those "close friends" threw Williams through a window.

Shattered glass and blood stains marked the pavement before officers escorted everyone off the property.

Williams' friend drove him away from the funeral home but surrendered to police about a block away.  Williams was taken to the hospital.

His friend was arrested for outstanding warrants unrelated to Kibbie's murder.
