One of life's little pleasures is Sunday brunch at a nice restaurant. In Houston, there's a restaurant that dares to ask the question, "Why wait until Sunday?"
At Max's Wine Dive, you can spoil yourself with a Sunday brunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Houston food blogger Mai Pham recently sat down with Max's Wine Dive Executive Chef Michael Pellegrino to talk brunch.
"At Max's, we do gourmet comfort food," Pellegrino said. "It's all the food you had as a child, but we do it at an elevated level."
"Our brunch rocks here," he told Pham. "We do crème brulee battered French toast, red velvet pancakes, pancakes and chicken wings, fried chicken and mac n' cheese."
And those are just some of the items on the brunch menu.
The brunch attracts a crowd of foodies and local celebrities. While Pham was there, she bumped into Houston hip hop artist Bun B, who said he comes for the brunch a couple of times on the weekends. The grits and the mac n' cheese are two of his favorites.
Pham tried several of the dishes, but what stood out for her was the creme brulee French toast.
"It was like dessert and breakfast all rolled into one," she said.
Max's Wine Dive is located at 4720 Washington Avenue, just east of Shepherd Drive.
