Four children are left orphaned after their parents were killed in a tragic car accident just six days ago.
Three of the couple's children were injured in that deadly accident. The two youngest boys are now home from the hospital, and their older sister will hopefully be released on Saturday.
The children's grandparents, who are in their 60s, are now responsible for the four kids and they're in desperate need of some help.
These tears are just the beginning of many more to come.
"We're just telling Connor about heaven and God and how his mom went up there," said Samantha Sublett, niece of the victims.
Connor Griffin, 4, has been told his mommy and daddy are in heaven. What he doesn't understand is that they're never coming back.
Last Saturday afternoon, DPS says 38-year-old Harold "Wayne" Griffin, his common-law wife 34-year-old Jessica Vitello and four children, three of them theirs, were driving on FM 787 just east of Cleveland when they hit a slick spot. Wayne lost control, ran off the road and hit a tree.
"My six-year-old cousin, he crawled out of the truck and hid behind a tree and he saw his dad decapitated," said Samantha.
The couple's three children, four-year-old Connor, six-year-old Tyler, 13-year-old Makayla and her friend were taken to the hospital with injuries.
"I really didn't think that anything like this, a tragedy would actually happen," said 17-year-old Frank Vitello, son of the victims.
Jessica's 17-year-old son Frank from a different marriage, was the only one not in the car.
"The day that it happened an hour before the accident, something popped in my head to call her but I just never jumped on that," said Frank.
Frank, Makayla, Tyler and Connor were left orphaned in an instant.
Frank, his cousin Samantha and their relatives haven't even had time to grieve.
They've been going to and from the hospital, rushing to plan a funeral and scrambling to figure out how they're going to care of four more kids.
"They just got the news that they were getting four more kids and they really weren't ready for that. My grandpa is the only one working. Who knows how much the hospital bills are going to be because they've been in there maybe a week, so we really just need some help with the money and anything will help at all," said Samantha.
The family is hoping you can help: with money, food, clothes, shoes, books or games.
While the younger ones work on healing from their injuries, the older ones know they need to stay positive and strong.
"I have to focus more on my sister and brothers now to make sure they grow up okay and help out my grandparents if they need it," said Frank.
Jessica and Wayne will be laid to rest Saturday morning.
