Motorcycle rider rescued from high water road

Posted: Updated:

A motorcycle rider was taken by Life Flight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital after he crashed the motorcycle into a high water street in northwest Harris County.

The male was riding southbound on Spring Cypress Road around 2:30 a.m. Friday when deputies say he bypassed a road barricade near Cypress View Drive, maneuvered the motorcycle around it and crashed it into the water.

Witnesses who watched the accident take place pulled the rider from the water.

The rider was taken by Life Flight in critical condition.

Around the same time as that accident, another motorcycle rider was killed in another accident nearby in the Tomball area.

That rider was traveling southbound on Hufsmith-Kohrville Road when he apparently did not see a fork in the roadway to transfer onto the frontage road of Tomball Parkway.

The motorcycle struck the curb and sent the rider into the air. He landed on his head and died at the accident scene.

The rider had not worn his helmet which was strapped to the motorcycle.

Harris County deputies have not determined if the two accidents were related.
