Deputies search for missing boy in San Jacinto County

Posted: Updated:
HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

The search for a missing 6-year-old Houston boy ended just before 9 p.m. Friday in San Jacinto County.

Investigators say James Vongxay disappeared while he was out with his family on a fishing trip north of Mudd Road near Lake Houston.  Deputies say he disappeared around 2:30 p.m. that Friday.

Family members say James was suppose to be with his mother and sister when she realized he was no where to be found.

Emergency personnel from multiple jurisdictions searched the water and land near until it was too dark to continue.

James' aunt Brend Vongxay says she doesn't think the boy can swim.  That's of particular concern because there are several tributaries for Lake Houston and the Trinity River in the area.

The San Jacinto County Sheriff's office is expected to resume their search Saturday morning.
