The Houston Astros signed second-round pick Nolan Fontana, shortstop from Florida.
He took his physical on Tuesday and signed his contract.
MLB sources confirm Fontana received an $875,000 signing bonus.
"This is a player we are very excited about," said Jeff Luhnow, Astros general manager, after making the announcement.
"It's our belief Nolan is going to move quickly through our system."
Luhnow said Fontana will begin playing for the franchise's Class-A affiliate in Lexington, Ky.
