MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Monday night's storms led to some close calls for two people in Dakota County.

Rob Nelson was driving along Pilot Knob Road in Apple Valley when power lines fell on his car. Nelson climbed out his window and luckily didn't get hurt since the lines weren't live.

It could be another day or two before the power lines on Pilot Knob are fixed.

A mile south, in Lakeville, Terry Preggler rolled out of bed just in time. Her dogs were barking at the storm, waking her up. Seconds later, a tree landed right on her bed.

Xcel Energy says 14,000 customers still don't have electricity Wednesday morning. Crews are working toward their goal to get the power back on to all customers by 11 p.m

The city of Hastings said warns that all downed or exposed wires should be considered live and extremely dangerous. Remind children to stay out of areas affected by storm damage as crews are working to clear roadways and restore power.

City crews are continuing to clear debris from roads, with a priority on getting streets open for traffic. Storm debris in the right of way will be cleared by the city, but it may be next week before that occurs.
