In 2009, FOX 26 Investigates found 39-year-old Shawn Roberts standing before a judge -- but instead of representing a client, it was the disbarred attorney facing a felony criminal charge.
It is a drug charge that prosecutors describe as highly unusual because it implicates Roberts in the death of his 34-year-old girlfriend Tara Sganga.
"In March of 2007, he injected his then girlfriend with herion and she actually died after that injection due to drowning," said Harris County Assistant District Attorney Donna Hawkins.
When FOX 26 Investigates asked Roberts in 2009 about Sganga's death, he offered no explanation or comment. But now he has a lot of explaining to do to the judge who released him on bond.
Prosecutors are alleging that Roberts recently violated a condition of his bond regarding alleged drug use.
"We are alleging that the defendant has ingested a controlled substance while out on bond," said Hawkins.
Roberts' attorney Mark Bennett did not return calls from Investigates seeking comment.
FOX 26 Investigates has also learned that Roberts' 30-year-old girlfriend Amanda Linscomb died last week. Officers said that Linscomb was found unconcious on a bedroom floor in a home in Willis.
A Montgomery County Justice of the Peace has ordered an inquest into Linscomb's death and the circumstances surrounding her condition before paramedics arrived. The exact cause of her death is pending autopsy results.
