A convicted rapist who failed repeatedly to register as a sex offender has been captured after someone contacted Crime Stoppers of Houston after seeing his profile on FOX 26 News at Nine.
Gabriel Salazar, 27, was arrested in Liberty County on Monday afternoon after Crime Stoppers received information about him.
Salazar was convicted in late 2000 of aggravated sexual assault of an 8-year-old child. He has been convicted twice before for failing to register as a sex offender, said Katherine Cabaniss of Crime Stoppers.
Pasadena police recently tried to conduct a welfare check on him but noticed that his mail was piling up and his grass was not mowed. Neighbors had told officers that they did not know where he was.
