This week's 'Predator Check' is in search of a convicted sex offender who has stopped telling police were he can be found. Now there's a reward for his capture.
Take a good look at 37-year-old Miguel Mendoza. He's 5-foot-10 and weighs 185-pounds.
He has tattoos on both arms and a scar on his forehead.
In 2003, Mendoza was convicted of 'indecency with a child by contact.’
Mendoza's last-known address was on the 10500 block of Chatterton Drive in northwest Houston. That's near the West Belt between Hammerly and Westview.
Court records indicate he registered there as a sex offender in the summer of 2009. Which he did, for a few years, after getting out of prison. But in May, police checked again and found that he had left.
“We know that in this case it was a child, 13 years old, and we know that 'indecency with a child, by contact is some kind of inappropriate touching,” says Katherine Cabaniss with Houston Crime Stoppers. “It's a sexual offense and it does require annual registration.”
Authorities don't know if Miguel Mendoza is still in the Houston area, but if you know where to find this man Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information that leads to his arrest. You can call anonymously at 713-222-TIPS.
