This week's Predator Check is in search of a convicted sex offender who has shown, over and over, he has no intention of letting police know where he can be found. It’s required by law, so now there’s a reward for his arrest.
Take a look at 52-year-old Anselmo Pruneda, Jr. He also goes by the name 'John Perez.’ He's 5-foot-4 and 175-pounds with tattoos on both arms. In 1994, Pruneda was convicted of 'sexual assault of a child.’
Anselmo Pruneda's last-known address was on the 3000-block of Canal on Houston's east side.
Published reports indicate he was caught there, living in a tent behind a convenience store after he'd failed to register as a sex offender. In fact, he's been convicted of failing to register as a sex offender three times, after he was sent to prison for raping a 9-year-old boy.
“At some point, certainly, the law is going to take into account that he has been warned on so many occasions and been sentenced on so many others, that he is going to receive some sort of sentence that will keep him out of our neighborhoods for a sufficient amount of time,” says Katherine Cabaniss from Houston Crime Stoppers.
Pruneda may be living with Houston's homeless community again.
If you know where to find this man, Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information that leads to his arrest.
