This week's Predator Check is in search of a convicted sex offender who has decided he no longer has to let authorities keep tabs on him. Now there's a warrant for his arrest.
This man is 47 year-old Carl Dennis. He stands 5-foot-7, weighs 150-pounds, and has scars on his left shoulder and arm -- and right leg and wrist.
In 1989, Dennis was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Carl Dennis' last-known address was the 1700-block of Gray near downtown Houston at the cross between the Gulf and Eastex Freeways.
He registered there as a sex offender at the 'Bread of Life' homeless shelter last spring. This was after his release from a 20-year prison sentence for the rape of a 3-year-old little girl. He was supposed to check-in, in March, but he's now gone.
“This defendant was a predator to the most defenseless and most vulnerable people in our society,” says Katherine Cabaniss with Houston Crime Stoppers.
3 years old... a child who often is so young that they're not able to report what happened to them. In this case we know that there was some sort of report... there was a charge... there was a conviction ... and there was a prison sentence."
A warrant for Carl Dennis' arrest was issued in May.
If you know where to find this man, Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to his arrest. You can call anonymously at 713-222-TIPS.
