Michelle Merhar is the Traffic Authority for the greater Houston area. She joined the FOX 26 News team in July of 2010 and makes it her priority to help commuters navigate the busy roadways quickly and safely every weekday morning.
You can watch her Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. She also reports for the 9 p.m. FOX 26 newscast with a construction update.
Michelle is a native Houstonian, graduate of Klein High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media from Texas State University in San Marcos (Eat em up, Cats!) She is also currently pursuing her Masters with a degree in Business.
She worked briefly in the financial field, before accepting her first broadcasting job at NewsRadio 740 KTRH in Houston as the overnight, weekend anchor. From there, Michelle spent the next four years crafting a segment during the morning show called KTRH Connected - which helped link her listeners to whats going on in the World Wide Web, dubbing her the web goddess.
Along with maintaining the stations website, she also reported and was the executive producer for the Joe Pags Pagliarulo Morning Show.
In addition to her work in news, Michelle loves to be involved in her community. She has emceed events for the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society, Habitat for Humanity, AVANCE, American Heart Association, Old Town Spring Pet Fest and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. She cherishes the opportunities shes had to guest lecture bright, future journalism students at schools all around the Houston area and kicks up the competitive side around Houston Rodeo time as a veteran competitor at the Celebrity Goat Milking contest.
When shes not studying alternate routes or all the traffic hot spots around town, shes working on her home and yard, playing golf or tennis, exercising with her two boxer-dogs, or preparing for her next triathlon/adventure race. Don't let her southern charm fool you - Michelle is also a first-degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do.
