This week's Predator Check is in search of a suspect accused of repeated assaults against children. Police need to find him, and there's a reward for his capture.
Take a good look at 43-year-old Antonio Chonay. He also goes by at least three other aliases.
Chonay is a slight man at 5-foot-5 and 150-pounds. He is charged with two counts of 'aggravated sexual assault of a child' and 'continued sexual abuse of a child.’
Chonay's last-known address was on the 13000-block of Lillja on Houston's north side near Airline and Aldine Mail Route.
According to court documents, the attacks happened over a period of several years. The alleged victims, all children of families he had befriended.
Those kids told investigators that Chonay threatened them with a gun if they told anyone.
“Multiple victims in multiple places, but always gaining access by pretending to be a religious person,” says Katherine Cabaniss with Houston Crime Stoppers. “A good person in the community. Somebody they could trust, and it turns out, he was not. He was sexually assaulting the children that he came in contact with.”
Antonio Chonay is believed to be from Guatemala and may have left the country, but if you know where to find this man, Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information that leads to his arrest.
