METRO's acting president and CEO officially took over the transportation authority today.
And metro is getting down to dealing with the budget crunch.
METRO's board of directors named George Greanias to run the agency today.
Greanias plans to continue the agenda he started at METRO as its interim leader.
He takes over an agency trying to balance budget issues while at the same time, expanding its light rail system.
While the agency is hoping to avoid layoffs, various roles at metro will be reviewed.
’We don't keep a position unless you need it, so over time, over the next year I'll be looking at every position and saying, 'Do we need that position? And is the person who's holding that position the right person for it?' Greanias said. "That's a good question any good manager would do."
Greanias will earn a base salary of $235,000 a year.
