This week's Predator Check is in search of a convicted sex offender who has gone missing in our community. There's a reward for her arrest if you know where to find her.
Take a good look at 51-year-old Anita Thomas. She goes by a number of aliases. She's a large woman at 5-foot-1 and 225-pounds. Thomas has scars on her left arm and right wrist.
In 1987, she was convicted of "indecency with a child by contact.”
Anita Thomas’s last-known address was on the 9200-block of Oak Hill Lane. That's in northeast Houston near Tidwell and Mesa.
She registered there as a sex offender in 2010 – this after a 15-year prison sentence for violating a 5-year-old girl.
Officers tried to check on Thomas in July and found she'd moved months ago.
“The law does not distinguish between a sex offender who is a male or a sex offender who is a female,” says Katherine Cabaniss from Houston Crime Stoppers. “Though she is a female and that is unusual, she is required to register based upon the criminal history that she has. When she failed to do so, a warrant was issued for her arrest, just like it would be for anyone else."
Thomas is also wanted for a 'dangerous drugs' parole violation and is described as having 'dangerous tendencies.’
If you know where to find this woman, Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to her arrest. You can call anonymously at 713-222-TIPS.
