The twins of a 14-year-old mother will be placed with her aunt and uncle pending a future hearing.
The custody battle has drawn significant controversy, not because of the mother’s age but the alleged antics of Child Protective Services and the court. The mom’s attorney says CPS is attempting to make it hard for the mom and her relatives to prove themselves as fit caregivers in court.
A lawyer for CPS told FOX 26 investigative reporter Randy Wallace the teen mom clearly lacked the resources to take care of her children. The 14-year-old’s mother was deported from the country and the father is serving a prison sentence for murder. CPS got involved in the case because the teen mom reportedly ran away from her aunt and delivered her baby at a hospital.
