Several members of the FOX 26 family were honored at the Houston Press Club’s 2011 Lone Star Awards.

Television- Photojournalist of the Year

First Place: Mark Muller, KRIV-Houston

Judges' Comments:  The contestants in this category are each amazing photojournalists and made the decision very difficult. In the end we chose Mark’s work for his range of styles and his ability to capture even the smallest details. His composition is beautiful, his sequencing was artful and the natural sound in his pieces brought you into the story. Great work.

First Place: Jim Siebert, KRIV-Houston

Judges' Comments: ..detailed explanation, excellent graphics to go along with the presentation, and a serious but calming personal while delivering the message.

Television- Soft News Feature

First Place: Greg Groogan and Mark Muller, KRIV-Houston, “Being Victor”

Judges' Comments: This was a compelling and heartwarming story. It’s clear the reporter and photographer went the extra mile to tie everything together. It was a pleasure watching Victor’s victory in the end.

Judges' Comments: This comprehensive ongoing hurricane coverage site provides residents not only with up to the minute reports on tropical storms and hurricanes, but also offers helpful tips on preparation and related storm matters.
