NEWS

VP/ News Director                                                             Full Time Regular

KRIV/KTXH currently has an opening for a VP, News Director. Individual must possess the ability to motivate, lead and manage a major market news operation to its maximum potential.  Must possess solid experience in strategic planning, strong organization and problem solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills and must bring successful management experience in leading a large newsroom.  Individual will be expected to develop the vision and strategies for newscasts to achieve ratings growth.  Additional responsibilities include developing and managing departmental and capital budgets, establishing strategic goals and oversee planning to ensure news gathering quality control, ethics and image of the news product.  Must be able to successfully work with management personnel in all departments.

Degree in Journalism or related field required. Five [5] or more years Previous News Director experience in a mid to major market preferred.  Individual must be a highly motivated, creative and organizationally sound news leader with proven team building skills and a winning attitude.  Must possess strong editorial judgment and a successful track record in recruitment/hiring and contract negotiation.  Must have strong background in legal and ethical issues as it relates to the news gathering process. Ability to challenge employees to grow and develop news gathering and reporting skills to consistently deliver informative, compelling and accurate newscasts. Knowledge of research and effective promotions essential.  Must possess modern vision, honesty and outstanding planning skills.  Must be knowledgeable in developing web and social media initiatives.

 

Photographer                                                   Full Time Regular

Shoot on Panasonic P2 and non-linear edit.  Operate camera, lights, wireless mics, portable/permanent editing gear, Avstar newsroom software, cell phone, and 2-way. Safely operate microwave live truck while following company and industry safety standards. Must willingly accept direction from Assignment Desk.  Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field preferred.  Three years paid broadcast news experience as a photographer/photojournalist required.

 

Producer                                                          Full Time Regular

Write, arrange, and coordinate live and taped elements into a compelling, well-paced newscast.  Communicate with field crews, assignment desk, directors, and news room management.  Must exercise sound news judgment.  Requires degree in Journalism or related field and three years "paid" newsroom experience as producer.  Must have proven track record of success.  Need to be computer literate and possess good interpersonal skills.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for success in this position.

 

Production Technician                                     Full Time Regular

Responsible for coding in enhanced live control system [ELC]. Other responsibilities include but not limited to: Audio/Robotic camera operation; live shots; lighting; and floor directing for live newscasts and recorded programming.

Requires five (5) to seven (7) years prior broadcast experience in a live control room environment as a Traditional/Technical Director. Must be able to work flexible hours and shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Must have excellent communication skills and be a team player.

 

CREATIVE SERVICES

 

Promotion Producer                                        Full Time Regular

Responsibilities will include: write, produce, and edit topicals/pre-show teases; produce PSA's and assist with updating promotion, public service, website and social media content; produce image, topical, proof of performance, and entertainment, as needed; tag network and syndicated spots; back-up log editor.  Requires BA or equivalent experience in television production, advertising, design, or multi-media production.  Min 2 yrs experience in creative services production, cable or multi-media environment.  Must also have 2 yrs experience with Avid, Final Cut Pro or equivalent editing or compositing software.  Must have superior writing and per-visualization skills with emphasis on translating marketing goals into effective advertising.  Must demonstrate ability to work with wide range of on-camera talent.  Superior collaboration skills in a deadline driven environment are required.  Prefer candidate with advanced knowledge of motion graphics and sound sweetening.  Knowledge of Photoshop, After Effects, basic or advanced HTML and Flash a PLUS! Must be self-motivated and be able to work flexible hours when necessary.

 

Editor/Producer                                               Full Time Regular

Responsibilities will include: edit and produce topicals; Execute and produce PSA's image spots and can execute under tight deadlines; produce image, topical, proof of performance, and entertainment, as needed; edit and create sound design for audio tracks and radio spots; will be the Primary Promotions Editor and will have operational responsibility for trafficking radio, cable and digital media spots during sweeps.   Requires BA or equivalent experience in television production, advertising, design, or multi-media production.  Min three (3) to five (5) years' experience in video production, editing or design.  Must have experience with Avid, Final Cut Pro or Adobe After Effects in a MAC environment.  Superior collaboration skills in a deadline driven environment are required.  Prefer candidate with advanced knowledge of motion graphics and sound sweetening.  Must be self-motivated and be able to work flexible hours when necessary.

 

SALES

 

Account Executive  [2 Positions]                      Full Time Regular

Service and maintain existing account list (agency and direct), develop new business, increase station revenue/share of existing accounts.  Cold calling and prospecting required.  Assist in annual budgeting process, achieve budget and market share goals, and accurately forecast existing revenue and potential revenue to management.  College degree and 2 yrs broadcast sales experience preferred.  Knowledge of research programs such as: TV-Scan, Nielsen, Scarborough, and/or CMR preferred.  Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).  Must be self-motivated with proven track record of success.  Must be able to work under pressure, be extremely organized, and maintain team spirit.

 

Sales Coordinator [2 Positions]                            Full Time Regular 

Responsible for clerical functions of sales dept to include:  data entry, contract management, misc sales projects, answering phones, processing orders, handling correspondence, organizing files to insure SAQ compliance, and maintaining data bases.  College degree required.  Four [4] to five [5] years administrative experience in corporate environment. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  Must be self-motivated, extremely organized, have a keen eye for detail, excellent troubleshooting abilities, work well under pressure with ability to meet stringent guidelines, and understand team concept.  Accounting experience a Plus!

 

FINANCE

 

Staff Accountant                                               Full Time Regular

Review and/or prepare month-end reports, weekly revenue analysis reports, account analyses, journal entries, and all other facets of general ledger accounting.  Will also assist with accounts payable processing, act as back-up for billing coordinator in log post functions, and other duties as assigned.  Requires degree in Accounting or Finance and minimum 2 yrs experience as general ledger accountant.  Broadcast experience helpful.  Requires excellent analytical skills.  Must be self-motivated, extremely organized, and possess excellent Excel spreadsheet skills.  Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to interact well with various station personnel.  Must be extremely detail oriented with ability to work within strict time parameters.

 

 

HUMAN RESOURCES

 

Human Resources Manager                              Full Time Regular

Responsibilities include performing all generalist duties for the Fox O&O duopoly, including but not limited to direct and manage the Stations' employee relations and employment programs and initiatives, recruiting/applicant tracking, performance management and performance evaluation administration, FMLA, worker's compensation, policy administration, and affirmative action compliance and monitoring.   Candidate will work in concert with Station management and Corporate Human Resources to ensure that all employment regulatory requirements are met and that all Company policies are adhered to.  Position requires at least five (5) years HR Management experience, Bachelors degree in HR Management, Organizational Development or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.  Required skill set includes effective written/verbal communications, creative problem solving and conflict management, and strong computer skills.  Must also have strong leadership skills. All internships require a minimum of 20 hours per week for 8 weeks.
