Anchor/Reporter Full Time Regular
Perform studio and field anchoring and live reporting. Provide original news content for KRIV-FOX26, myfoxhouston.com, and associated media partners by successfully accomplishing the following responsibilities: gather news information; write news stories, and doing taped and live interviews and reports for KRIV-FOX26, myfoxhouston.com and associated media partners. Must contribute to social media efforts; Initiate research and enterprise stories.
Requires degree in Journalism or related field and three to five years' experience as broadcast television journalist in a mid to major market. Must be computer literate and proficient with multi-media formats. Need to have excellent communication skills and demonstrate positive attitude, leadership skills and good news judgment. Must have working knowledge of non-linear equipment such as AVID and broadcast cameras. Bilingual Spanish-English a plus.
Assignment Editor Full Time Regular
The incumbent will be responsible for gathering and developing news story ideas via social media, competitive analysis of all media platforms, plus telephone, fax, email and internet, monitoring police scanners and other sources for breaking news. Also responsible for dispatching news crews to cover breaking news. Must be able to advance stories beyond the basic information. Other duties as deemed appropriate and assigned.
Requires four  year college degree with emphasis in Journalism or Communications. Minimum four  years' experience in a mid-to-major television market as an Assignment Editor . Must have excellent news judgment, show a strong sense of urgency in coverage decision making, and display an aggressive and competitive news gathering style. Must be highly organized and efficient at multi-tasking. Knowledge of Houston area required.
Executive Producer, PM Full Time Regular
The incumbent will oversee the collection and distribution of content on all news platforms, specifically on television, web, and social media for the 5PM & 9PM newscasts and any other newscasts as assigned. Will guide daily editorial direction and help plan and oversee guest bookings, segment ideas, and development of creative concepts for future newscasts. Web/Social Media: the EP/PM will ensure FOX26 content breaks news first on these platforms. Oversee afternoon and evening associate producers, producers, anchors and reporters in the selection and formatting of stories. Will approve and copy edit scripts, teases and graphics.
Requires four  year college degree with emphasis in Journalism or Communications. Minimum five (5) years producing experience in mid-major market including show producing experience. Two  years management experience strongly preferred. Must be able to work in a fact paced, deadline oriented environment. Must be a strong leader and communicator and possess good time management skills. Must possess good editorial judgment and understand the legal and ethical parameters for mass media. Strong working knowledge of technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web based newsgathering tools. Must be able to use newsroom computer systems, including AVID iNews and AVID search, editing and graphics programs.
Producer Full Time Regular
Responsible for writing news stories and teases, ordering graphics and assembling newscasts. Write stories for myfoxhouston.com. Coordinate live coverage of news events and participate in the selection and development of stories. Create content for social media platforms. Perform other duties as assigned.
Four (4) year college degree required. Two (2) – Three (3) years' experience as a TV newscast producer in a medium to major market. Candidate must have strong news judgment, good writing skills, knowledge of current events and excellent communication and people skills. Knowledge of social media platforms, TV production techniques and newsroom computer systems required.
Reporter Full Time Regular
Provide original news content for KRIV-FOX26, myfoxhouston.com, and associated media partners by successfully accomplishing the following responsibilities: gather news information; write news stories, and doing taped and live interviews and reports for KRIV FOX26, myfoxhouston.com and associated media partners. Must contribute to social media efforts; Initiate research and enterprise stories; Update and follow up on stories and communicate with managers and assignment editors about past, current and future stories. Complete required administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner. Perform other duties as assigned.
Must have a broad working knowledge of police procedures, the court system, and municipal, state and federal government operations and must have strong knowledge of legal and ethical parameters of reporting for mass media. Ability to work under stressful conditions and deadlines is a must. Maintaining a strong roster of contacts and sources is required. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Must be able to use newsroom computer systems, and possess specific expertise in research and computer-assisted reporting. Must be a strong writer and communicator and have the ability to shoot and edit video. A professional appearance is essential. Must annunciate clearly, and maintain a clear delivery during both live and taped reports. Bi-lingual Spanish/English a plus. 4–year college degree required with emphasis in Communications and Journalisms preferred. 3 -5 years' experience in a medium to major market.
Staff Accountant Full Time Regular
The Staff Accountant has significant responsibility for providing complete, accurate, and timely accounting reports to management. Must accurately interpret raw and summarized data from the Traffic and General Ledger systems. Prepare all journal entries and analyses related to the accounting cycle closes, including standard, recurring, and adjusting journal entries and posting depreciation. Responsible for capitalizing fixed assets and maintaining the master asset list along with the related records. The Staff Accountant will assist in regular auditing and testing. Assists in the annual SOX 404 testing and annual budget preparation. This candidate must have flexibility with work schedule.
Requirements, Skills & Abilities: Four year college degree with a major or concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline is required. Broadcast Finance experience is preferred. A CPA or MBA is required. A minimum of four  or more years of general accounting experience is required. Must possess good working knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, have good math skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office with a heavy emphasis in Excel.
Account Executive Full Time Regular
The position will primarily focus on developing new business for Broadcast TV. The successful candidate must be able to identify qualified targets, use strong communication and presentation skills throughout the sales process and maintain a high closing ratio. We are looking for someone that can bring together all our resources (Local News, Fox Network, Fox Sports, My Network TV, Web Sponsorships and Promotions) in a creative manner to achieve a high level of results. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategically negotiating existing business along with obtaining incremental dollars from the existing market and building strong client relationships. Responsible for completing administrative tasks such as weekly forecasts, monthly reports, new business trackers, weekly meeting forms and the credit and collection of all accounts.
Ideal candidate must possess a proven track record of success in sales. A four year college degree is preferred. Media sales experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of media math, TV ratings and web metrics is a plus. Candidate must be a self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for someone who is energetic, positive, creative and passionate to succeed in the highly competitive environment of media sales. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking are critical to the position. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required and knowledge of media related software and research tools is a plus.

NEWS DEPARTMENT: All News student interns will gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced news environment. Overall, an internship with the News Department will involve assisting the news staff with compiling information, answering phones and other duties that will be useful in the news gathering process. This internship may include some field experience with News Reporters to cover developing stories. Student interns are expected to assist producers with researching. Also, student interns will assist Assignment Desk Editors and News Producers with phone calls to assist in the development of stories, as well as filing press releases, sorting scripts and writing practice scripts as needed. This internship requires learning the news computer system.
SPORTS DEPARTMENT: Student interns will gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of the Sports Department. Interns will help produce and edit sports stories for daily sportscasts. Student interns will assist in all facets of production. Duties include but are not limited to: checking wire reports, logging feeds and games, preparing initial scripts, working with editors to produce highlights, and retrieving and archiving videotapes. This internship may include some field experience to cover sports events with a crew. Student interns must be self-starters, organized, and able to work evening and weekends hours.
CREATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT/PROGRAMMING: Student interns will assist in the production of news and program promotion, as well as creation of broadcast graphics. Creative writing and journalism background preferred. Student interns must be enrolled in a Broadcast Journalism, Television/Radio, or comparable curriculum. Student interns will also be exposed to program scheduling, TV ratings research, operational procedures and more. Interns will also learn about FCC compliance, sales support and news research. The Department is responsible for maintaining the stations' public files, cable relations and communicating with the public.SALES/RESEARCH: The Sales Department is responsible for generating revenue via negotiations with commercial advertisers. Student interns will provide administrative support to account executives and sales coordinators. Internship activities may include contract entry, typing correspondence, faxing, filling contracts, copying, etc. There will also be telephone interaction with clients and advertising agencies and the opportunity to attend in person meetings with clients and advertising agencies. There may be opportunities for the student interns to spend time in the Traffic and Research departments as well. Student interns must have a desire to work in Sales and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. The Research Department supports various departments primarily through sales research and procedures.
