People who do not already own a NOAA weather radio may may want to consider getting one.

Dan Reilly, the warning coordination meteorologist with the Houston-Galveston National Weather Service office, stresses the importance of a weather radio and describes it "like a smoke detector, but for weather."

In the event that a dangerous storm is moving toward your area, the radio will sound an alert tone followed by a message with details of the tornado or severe thunderstorm in your vicinity. This is especially important for storms that form at night, because without a NOAA weather radio, you would have no warning of an impending danger.

In addition, FOX 26 meteorologist Mike Iscovitz shows a tropical wave approaching the Caribbean Islands and what is left of Tropical Storm Grace which hit Ireland. Finally, people in Japan are bracing for Typhoon Melor.
