HOUSTON - Many experts in the hurricane community agree that Houston got
lucky last year with Hurricane Ike. It was a powerful blow to
Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula, but it could have easily
been much worse for all of southeast Texas.
FOX 26 meteorologist Kristi Powers visits with Dan Reilly
from the local office of the National Weather Service, who has some
interesting graphics to show about the storm surge associated with
Hurricane Ike. A slight change to the landfall location would have
made the damage much greater than what we saw.
