Fort Bend Bans Use, Sale of Fireworks

ROSENBERG, Texas - A Fort Bend County judge has declared a disaster and banned the sale or use of fireworks in the county leading up to the July 4th holiday.

The declaration came after the county went through a third straight week of highs above 95 degrees.

The hot, dry weather has caused the Brazos River water level to drop, to the point that officials are preparing to release water from upstream lakes to assure an adequate water supply.

The ban will be in effect until further notice.
