SUGAR LAND, Texas - A late night crash in Fort Bend County sent nine people to the hospital on Saturday -- three of them were in critical condition and had to be transported by medical helicopter.

It happened at the intersection of Highway 90 and Grand Parkway around 11:30 p.m.

Investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety say a minivan with seven people inside was traveling east on Highway 90 when it ran a red light, causing a Ford Expedition to slam into its side.

All seven people in the minivan, including four children, were transported to the hospital. Three were taken by LifeFlight.

There were five people in the Ford. Two of its passengers were transported to the hospital.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
