HOUSTON - A school bus accident on Highway 288 at West Orem sent several students to the hospital after they complained of pain.

The wreck happened around 7 a.m. Wednesday with 40 students on board.

Aerial views of the scene from SkyFox indicated the bus may have collided with another small car. None of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.

According to the Houston Fire Department, 8 students complained of pain and were sent to the hospital to be looked over. A driver in one of the other vehicles was also sent to the hospital.

The bus, operated by a private charter company, was serving the KIPP Houston Spirit College Prep school.

"In issues of student safety, we always err on the side of caution," explains KIPP spokesperson Chris Gonzalez, "We are pleased that all the students could get off the bus under their own power, and thank the dedicated staff at KIPP and First Student for helping get our students to safety."

According to Houston Transtar, a total of four vehicles were involved in the crash. One northbound main lane was closed for the morning rush hour.
