HOUSTON - A METRO bus collided with a light rail train in downtown Houston on Monday afternoon, sending 18 passengers to the hospital.
The crash happened at 2:10 p.m. on Main Street at St. Joseph Parkway.
At least four people were taken from the train on stretchers. The extent of the injuries and the cause of the crash are not known, but a spokesman for METRO said no one suffered life-threatening injuries.
The train and the bus were moved from the scene less than two hours after the crash, clearing the intersection for the afternoon rush hour.
The crash is the second accident of its kind in less than five weeks. It was Feb. 8 when nine people were injured after a METRO bus ran a red light and hit a light rail train at the same intersection as Monday's crash.
